چکیده
Permeable reactive barrier (PRB) containing zero valent iron (ZVI), plaster and additives to make a porous composite structure, was tested remove an organic nitro compound as model pollutant. An aqueous solution of 4-nitroaniline (PNA) passed through column chemical degradation quantified by UV-Vis spectroscopy. PNA reduced p-phenylenediamine the rate reduction strongly related ZVI amount, pollutant volume, contact with metal particles. The PBR could be controlled design operation. Test columns were made evaluate materials for making precast blocks ZVI. results showed that such efficient retaining funneling walls environmental applications. Thus economical Calcium sulphate solids can used remediation depolution products capacity treating unwanted toxic nitrates, or chlorinatedsolvents present in waterways. A permeable will last long some particles remain react.

Microbiological characteristics in a zero-valent iron reactive barrier.
Zero-valent iron (Fe0)-based permeable reactive barrier treatment has been generating great interest for passive groundwater remediation, yet few studies have paid particular attention to the microbial activity and characteristics within and in the vicinity of the Fe0-barrier matrix. The present study was undertaken to evaluate the microbial population and community composition in the reducing ...
متن کاملCarbothermal synthesis of carbon-supported nanoscale zero-valent iron particles for the remediation of hexavalent chromium.
Nanoscale, zero-valent iron is a promising reagent for in situ reduction of a variety of subsurface contaminants, but its utility in full-scale remediation projects is limited by material costs. Iron nanoparticles (20-100 nm diameter) supported on carbon (C-Fe0) were synthesized by reacting iron salts, adsorbed or impregnated from aqueous solutions onto 80 m2/g carbon black, at 600-800 degrees ...
متن کاملPotential environmental implications of nanoscale zero-valent iron particles for environmental remediation
OBJECTIVES Nanoscale zero-valent iron (nZVI) particles are widely used in the field of various environmental contaminant remediation. Although the potential benefits of nZVI are considerable, there is a distinct need to identify any potential risks after environmental exposure. In this respect, we review recent studies on the environmental applications and implications of nZVI, highlighting res...
متن کاملLong-Term Performance of Zero-Valent Iron Permeable Reactive Barriers: A Critical Review
Permeable reactive barriers (PRBs) have shown great promise as an alternative to pump and treat for the remediation of groundwater containing a wide array of contaminants including organics, metals, and radionuclides. Analyses to date have focused on individual case studies, rather than considering broad performance issues. In response to this need, this study analyzed data from field installat...
متن کاملLong-term Performance of Permeable Reactive Barriers Using Zero-valent Iron: An Evaluation at Two Sites
The permeable reactive barrier (PRB) technology is an in-situ approach for remediating groundwater contamination that combines subsurface fluid flow management with a passive chemical treatment zone. Removal of contaminants from a groundwater plume is achieved by altering chemical conditions in the plume as it moves through the reactive barrier. Because the reactive barrier approach is a passiv...
